A glimpse into the future of Choir!

Hi fellow Vivace members! First of all, a very big thank you to those who came for choir practice today in SR8. Our family is certainly growing, and becoming more and more fun! To those who didn't or couldn't attend today, not to worry. Please try your best to attend future practices so you can add to the fun!

On another note, I would like to stress the importance of Section practices. Don't you feel that when we gather every Wednesday evening to practise together, it's more enjoyable if we already know our parts? Then all we have to do is fine tune our pitching, pronunciation, tempo, volume, among other things. Not take up the whole 1 hour just to get to know the song. Then it's something of a waste for all of us to gather at the same place, same time, only to be separated in Sections. Right? Especially in light of the coming-soon Choir concert, we really need to waste as little time together as possible.

Okay! For those of you who didn't get to see my short slideshow on our planned (all are unconfirmed except for Concert) activities for the rest of the year and next year, here is a summary of what I said!

2010

December
Charity Home Visit
- around Christmas time, may be carolling but nothing is set in stone yet
- somebody suggested going to lecturers' homes for carolling..
- In Charge: Archana Divi

2011

January
Choir Concert
- Every choir member is expected to attend & contribute some powderful singing!
- Actually sponsorship is also needed.
- Full list of songs we are performing (and who is performing them) will be released sometime soon
- Organizing President is Wei Jie, any queries can direct to him.

February
Fund Raising
- Set up booth, sell food/shtuffs for $$
- Volunteers needed!
- Please sign up with Wei Siong

March
Basic Music Theory Workshop
- Learn how to read music scores (or at least have a better understanding of them)
- Will be open to Vivace members only, small fee will be applicable (for notes, light refreshments, and maybe a certificate of attendance. Also, will help to increase club funds)
- Ming Wai (that's me, folks!) is organizing this one.

April
Fund Raising v2.0
- We are trying our best to increase club funds so we can enjoy ourselves more!
- More funds = more awesome events for us
- Wei Siong is again in charge of this one.

May
English Singing Competition
- Open to all students of IMU to join! Prizes and food and the usual things will be there.
- Vivace will be organizing, so we need volunteers to be in the Commitee!
- Sze Min welcomes all applications to be in her Organizing Committee, as long as you're a Choir Member!

June/July
Music Camp in Cameron Highlands
- 2D1N or maybe 3D2N depending on how successful fund raising has been, and how much you guys are willing to fork out..
- "Singing together and hot steamboat in low temperature environment' is all you need to know =D
- We may be considering this as a club Annual Trip, but future Trips depend on how successful this one is
- Jia Ern is also looking for Organizing Committee members to help her plan it all out!

August/September
Annual Dinner + Installation of New Committee
- Sit down dinner as one big happy Vivace family in a nice (and reasonably priced) restaurant to commemorate past events and to celebrate the new committee
- Another possible annual event, but we'll see how it goes..
- Outgoing Committee (that's your current committee, peeps!) will be planning this from top to bottom, you just have to come, sit down, eat and have fun.

Club Outings!

On top of all the major/minor events above, we will also be planning Club Outings. These will be very informal events open only to Choir members. What will they be? What will we do? The possibilities seem limitless. From a small scale event like a get-together-and-go-for-dinner to a visit to the Zoo, or maybe even clubbing in Zouk or who knows, we could even go on a day trip to Singapore! Please help us figure out what you want by chatting up Wellington who's in charge of the Outings.

I hope you guys are as excited about the future of Choir as much as I am! By the end of our term, we aim to make you happy about joining choir and not regretting it a single bit! And not to forget, we are going to forge close friendships with each other in the next 12 months or so!

Cya later alligators! After a while crocodiles!
